Breaking My Colour Comfort Zone

Are you guilty of wearing the same colours all the time? Me too.

Is that colour always black? Yep, me too.

I’m one of those girls who tends to dress a little ‘safe’ and if there’s a top or dress that I like I’ll do the classic “well let’s see if this comes in black before I buy it”. This particular incident happened recently when I was on the Quiz website and I saw a lush red cold shoulder frill top – I entered the product code into the search bar and there wasn’t a black version, but then I had a fashion ‘eureka’ moment… WHY DON’T I JUST GET IT IN RED?!

I often shy away from bright colours because I worry they make me look too pale or washed out, but as soon as this top arrived I was ready to put my heels on and rock the lady-in-red look.

I think being afraid of bright colours always comes down to confidence. Let’s face it, you’re going to be noticed more if you’re wearing bright red than if you were wearing black, and that can be a little daunting. I’m not one for being centre of attention, so the idea of everyone looking at my outfit, judging my make-up and looking to see if I fall over just fills me with DREAD. But hey, maybe it’s kinda cool too. I love changing up my style and if that means being a little daring with colour sometimes then so be it!

I styled my new top with some plain black pleated culottes from SheIn (which are an absolute dream) and some white heels also from Quiz. I know right… WHITE SHOES?! Yes these may get dirty quickly but I’m a new woman now, aren’t I? 😉

A little necklace and a clutch bag finishes off every outfit – the necklace is from Jon Richard Jewellery and the bag is ASOS. I’d totally wear this outfit for an evening out and I’d casj it down with some ankle boots and a leather jacket!

I’d love to know what you all think about wearing colour. If you wear it all the time then why is that? And if you hate colour then what would make you wear it? I’ve found just biting the bullet and choosing bright clothing has made me go out of my comfort zone and I’m loving the confidence it brings with it!

I love grey and khaki! I buy these colours so much but I never seem to opt for bright colours, but I love wearing red! You should try it girly!

I’m definitely gusty of wearing the same colours whatever makes me feel comfortable I guess.

They’re LUSH! Honestly so comfy! And I have two, the photos used for this were taken with a Nikon camera and a Tamron 70-200 lens.

Red is definitely your colour – I’ve been breaking out of my comfort styles lately and it is so strange how a few tiny tweaks can change how you feel about yourself.

You look great in red! This blog post has given me the courage to go out of my comfort zone and start looking for colours in my birthday outfit shop! Maybe now I might actually find something I like, haha!

    • 4th September 2016 / 10:08 am

Yesss you should! Even if it’s one item (like in this post with a red top and black bottoms) – it’ll make you feel so fancy and amazing! Go for it!

      R xoxo
