Sometimes you never actually realise what’s on your doorstep. I’m always looking for day trips and events to go to on the weekends either with my family or with the other half, and I had no idea I was only a 25 minute drive away from ANIMAL HEAVEN.
I spent my Saturday over in the countryside at the Cotswold Wildlife Park, which A) as I mentioned before, was only about half an hour away, and B) I’ve never actually been to before (I’ve lived here for 11 years and I’m basically animal obsessed, who knew?!).
Thanks to Boohoo, I finally realised what was right around the corner from me, and of course they kitted me up in the perf everyday jumpsuit for the occasion. Find all of my outfit snaps and ADORABLE animal pictures from my day below (and just you wait for the smiling giant tortoise).
Outfit wise I wanted to style my Boohoo jumpsuit with layers, because let’s face it, this weekend was SERIOUSLY cold. In hindsight, I wish I’d taken a puffa jacket and some thermal socks, but ya know, #fashion. I opted for a loose khaki trench coat because my leather jacket just wasn’t going to be warm enough, and on my feet I wore some comfy heeled mules.
I say comfy though… I’ve worn them a billion times and never had an issue, until they pretty much broke my feet. I was waddling around towards the end of the day with huge blisters and aching balls of my feet… like, I was practically crying. Advice: no matter how comfy you *think* your heeled shoes are, they are not appropriate for a zoo. Either that, or pack a pair of flipping trainers just in case. RIP toes <3.
The reason I chose this jumpsuit was because it’s one of those items that you can wear ALL. THE. TIME. I’ll wear it with a jumper underneath in Winter (should’ve done on this day) and I’ll wear it on it’s own with some flat sandals in the summer. Next week I’m off to Bruges for a week full of eating, exploring and walking, and I’ll fo’ sho’ be taking this striped little number.
I’m just 100% changing my shoe choice. FGS Robyn.
And lastly… Look how cute the animals are!
I’ve always been an animal lover (mum and dad please let me have a dog?). I loved walking around the park and taking up-close photos of the cuties, and I took my 50mm Olympus lens with me to get the quality detailed shots from quite a way away. The highlights for me were 100% the penguins, meerkats and the giant tortoise. Scroll down to see the tortoise, and if you’re sad then the photo will MAKE YOUR DAY!
Anyhoo, finally find some outfit snaps of my jumpsuit which we took at the end of the day (when my feet were in shreds, can you see my tears??). The bag is also from Boohoo and the necklace is Topshop.

All in all I literally had an amazing day. It was so nice to do something a little different than go for walks in the same places, and eat the same food. It’s SO worth having a search on a map to see what’s around you, and it’s fab if you’re on a bit of a budget and can’t afford a big holiday this year!
Hope you love the outfit, and the post – let me know your thoughts on day trips and staying close to home in the comments!
