Of course the sun comes out for approximately 4 and a half minutes and Robyn gets on with a summery outfit post – I couldn’t resist! When I came out of work today (Monday as I’m writing this) I had that aeroplane feeling walking out of my air conditioned office to the warmth of outside – perhaps we actually will get a summer after all, YAAAAAAS!
Today’s summer look involves a trend that we’ve loved for the past two years, and that’s the bardot top. I remember when I first started blogging and these tops were all the rage, and they’re still going strong – but not only are they offering you a nicer tan line, they’re really quite cheap on the high street.
This slightly fancy-shmancy bardot comes from the always stylish Missy Empire, and believe it or not it sits at a pretty fab £14. I’ve always been a fan of printed tops with a black background and a coloured print (the all-black-outfit lover in me can’t resist), but at least the bardot style keeps you a lil’ cool.
Styling-wise I knew I’d wear a pair of jeans with the top, but instead of opting for a pair of black skinny jeans I went for this FAB-U-LOUS pair of panelled jeans, also from Missy Empire (which is also a bargain). I’ve mentioned 100 times on my blog about struggling to fit in mom jeans, and these are another pair that seem to just fit perfectly in all the right places (but with a bit of comfy stretch for the food babies). Plus, isn’t the side panelling UBER cool? My mum didn’t think much of them, but I love a bit of a change up to everyday basics!
I’m wearing red, blue and black, so the last colour you’d think about wearing would be brown/tan, but I totally think my new shoes from Next go with the outfit! It’s that sort of colour that will go with everything and anything – I probably should’ve added a tan bag too but couldn’t resist my JW Anderson dupe from Jessica Buurman for that pop ‘o’ colour.
Summer-casj is all about those comfy, light vibes, so I can’t wait to wear this kinda look for a day trip to the beach (which I’m hopefully doing this weekend!) or for a shopping trip in the city. Let me finally bring to attention my bargain sunglasses from ASOS which make the best little summer accessory too!
