Inconvenient, or Genius? THE PLAYSUIT

Who else is LOVING this weather?! I’m a total summer gal and I love it when it’s beaut and warm like this! Let’s hope it lasts eh?!

With the weather totally gorge, I’ve gone all out with my summer outfits and found myself dress shopping pretty much every day for the past week or so. For some reason my inner girly-girl is saying no to shorts and t-shirts, and instead I’m obsessed with floral dresses and patterned jumpsuits, and another item I seem to be eyeing up a lot are playsuits.

Think of them what you will, but there are a lot of good things about wearing a playsuit in the summer, and also a lot of issues, am I right? I found this playsuit in the new-in section on Topshop, and I loved the orange/black combo along with the ditsy print. I umm-d and ahh-d (never had to type that before) for ages because I wasn’t sure if I’d constantly think ‘NO PLAYSUITS ARE TOO INCONVENIENT I CAN’T WEAR THAT’ – but after an hour of thinking about it I decided to add it to my basket (along with this t-shirt, if ya fancy a look).

But are the irritating parts of playsuits the reason why they’re SO amazing? Let’s find out, PROS AND CONS TIME!

THUMBS UP

Well, you look FAB

They usually cinch in at the waist, hello sexayyyy shape!

They eliminate the Bruce Almighty skirt-fly-up situation

If you’ve never seen Bruce Almighty, they stop you flashing your knickers

They’re easy to style, either with a t-shirt underneath or not

They suit flats or heels

Can be dressed up or down

Easy to take off (EY UP GALS)

Probably no wardrobe malfunctions when you’re out

They will not suffocate any part of your body, unlike jeans

THEY’RE JUST SO COMFORTABLE

THUMBS DOWN

Weeing is always a bit of a faff

And everyone thinks you’ve either passed out, or you’re doing a poo

Weeing while you’ve got your boobs out also feels very uncomfortable

Being too tall and having your playsuit slice through your body

Being too short and looking like you have the longest body in the world

Never being able to wear tights with them, because that sure as hell doesn’t look right

You really can’t bend over, ever

My verdict? I’ll still wear one.

I think with such a surge in Tall and Petite ranges, it’s easier to find ones that suit you whatever your height. Also, I can just about deal with taking the whole thing off to go for a wee.

This gorge one was a fab fit for me, and if anyone wants to know I’m 5 foot 7 and it’s the perfect length. I’m not brave enough (or tanned enough) to wear just a playsuit with my shoulders out, so a classic black tee underneath was the best combo. I love this kinda outfit for bank holiday weekends doing errands and walking around at the beach (which is what I’ll be doing, yaaaas!) and of course I won’t be wearing heels all weekend, and these flats from Dolcis are SO COMFY – I’m so impressed with them!

So what’s your verdict? Are you a playsuit fan? Or would you rather stick to a dress or a tee/shorts combo? Let me know what you think in the comments, and hope you like the outfit regardless!

This is a gorgeous playsuit Robyn! I’m personally a big fan of playsuits because how easy they are to style and essentially they can be a whole outfit on their own. But weeing is a total faff particularly when wearing them to festivals haha! But I agree and think they’re totally worth it 🙂 great post! x

Thank you, it’s lush isn’t it?! So pleased with it! Playsuits can be a total faff but I think once you get past the toilet stress then they’re fab!

Haha they are! I prefer them sometimes to dresses because they’re a bit more safe/covered up though, haha!
