This week has been a bit of a draaaag for me. I started a new medication for my migraines which have sent me a bit loopy, and the weathers gone from being sunny and gorge to me needing extra oranges for vitamin D because it’s been so damn overcast. Cloud, can you not??? Trying to have a nice summer over here??? I’ve spent most of my afternoons watching PLL from the beginning because with everyone going crazy over the finale I decided I’d give it another go from the start (gave up after the end of series 5, anyone else??). Ezra and Aria literally make me cry and I’ve just got to the bit where Caleb and Hanna first start getting flirty, MY HEART <3.
Anyway, after my mood-swing-central week I have actually had some really good news. Firstly, I’ve secured my new house with Jimmy and we move in on August 1st – absolutely B U Z Z I N G for all the homeware at the moment! I cannot wait to have our own little place and actually spend real time with Jimmy instead of seeing him for a few hours every weekend! Secondly, I treated myself to a cut, colour and blow dry on Thursday to make myself more blonde, and oh was it relaxing. You know when you get 3 hours to just sit and think about nothing? No phones, no social media (apart from the odd check) and no work. Then I ended up with less ginger and more blonde hair, and I LOVE IT!
Life update over, I’ve had to adjust to these cooler days by taking my summer clothes and making them a bit more ‘cool weather proof’ – anyone else spend loads of money on skirts during those boiling days to only wear them once and then get the blankets back out?
These wide leg trousers are what I’d call the perfect summer alternative to a skirt or pair of shorts – you know, when you want something a bit light an airy but will also keep the windchill from giving your entire body goosebumps. Some find them quite unflattering (if they don’t cinch in at the waist they make me have the weirdest shape) but if you get a good pattern and an elasticated tie-waist then I think they’re definitely a summer staple for cooler days. These stripy ones are from Miss Pap and I’m so glad I’ve got them for casual days, and also to wear with heels and tops for work during the summer!
And if your leg widths are big then why not have a big bag to accompany it with… How flippin’ BEAUT is this bag from Next?! I mentioned in my last blog post about woven bags and how they’re a classic summer accessory for all of those beach essentials, but this red and cream one has knocked all of the others I own right out the park.
I always used to sway towards little bags because they were cute and often had nice detailing to them, but they’re just so bloody impractical aren’t they? This whopper holds my camera, my phone, my huge purse, a spare jumper (because England) and even a spare pair of flats if I’m feeling bold and wear heeled shoes out. It’s not a bad price too, and I see myself coming back to this bag every summer for those big days out.
Slightly off topic, but when I was taking these photos I got a bit weird about the background and how ‘ohhhh it’s not a white wall’ and ‘shit what if it looks too rural’ – but I’m actually loving the result. A lot of photos can end up looking the same, and when I look at my images I end up shooting blog photos in similar places because I know where’s busy and where isn’t. These photos may be a bit darker than usual, and not as monochrome or clean, but I feel like they suit that candid ‘just took these shots on the way out’ vibe – don’t ya think?!
I’d love to know your opinion on them and whether you like a variety of locations or similar places!

Tee – c/o Miss Pap
Trousers – c/o Miss Pap
Bag – c/o Next
Shoes – c/o Ego (20% off with code PHASESOFROBYN20)
Sunnies – ASOS (old but literally same here)
Lipstick – Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick (Outlaw)
This may not be a fancy outfit, but girlies I literally could live in this kinda look every day of the week. It’s so comfy and so versatile, and you can wear any top you want with it! I’m definitely looking into some plain black wide-leg trousers (something like this) so I can wear patterned tops with them, but until then a classic white tee and these stripy babes will definitely do!
Drop me a comment and let me know what you think!

I actually love a bit of leafiness in photos so I really like the photo backdrop for these shots. Love your usual style of background too but it’s nice to have a bit of variety now and then and I think the location for this really suits the vibe! Love the trousers, I’m a big fan of a wide leg trousers or culottes for summer although totally agree with the high elasticated waist point or I just look like a sack. Hair looks gorgeous girl! That’s interesting to hear! I went through a phase of hating any leaves coming into my photos, but in the last year I’ve not minded a bit! Especially as I live in the countryside and you can’t avoid it… Glad you love these images, as well as the trousers!

I love your new hair, it looks fab!
I think the location is perfect, I think it’s nice to mix things up every now and then. I recently bought a pair of wide leg culottes but I haven’t worn them out yet, think I’m a bit afraid to aha. I really like those trousers though, I’m a sucker for a printed pair of trousers!
That bag is really pretty. I’ve been on the look out for a tote style kind of bag but I just haven’t found one I’ve liked yet. Might have to take a little peek at Next! xx

Ah thank you! I’m loving being more blonde for summer! And so glad you like the location, it’s definitely nice to change it up, and even though my Instagram is changing a little (and looking a bit mismatch!) I like the change!
Also glad you love the trousers, they’re SO comfy and airy for this time of year. Definitely wear them leisurely with a tee shirt and get used to them!

Ah thank you! Yeah it’s a little different to normal, but it’s nice to have that darker background when you’re wearing a white t-shirt!
