I’m Bored Of The Countryside… GET ME TO THE CITY

Oh my. I’m in a rut. I’m not sure whether it’s the hormones or just the stress of general life at the moment (it’s definitely the hormones) but I’m feeling a bit fed up with the way my blog is going, and it’s because I feel so trapped with it.

For anyone who doesn’t know, I live in a teeny tiny village with ZERO civilisation and I’m a million miles away from any other bloggers/life/shops/events/anything. I’ve only ever been to one blogger event in my entire ‘career’, and I still get all of my blog photos taken by my dad. I know right? Don’t get me wrong, it’s all lovely having my cosy home with my parents, and having my dad to actually take blog photos for me, but I’m so restricted with where I can take them and I just can’t seem to create the images and content that I want to create. Especially as I’m trying to push this whole ‘blogging career’ thing.

I think it all comes down to comparison, and naturally we all do it. We all see other photographers and bloggers who have such amazing photos in amazing locations and you think well I’m down a lane near my house because nowhere is glam or city-chic enough for my vision.

It’s a bit cruel, but it’s only because I care about my blog and my work.

After looking through this series of photos it did occur to me however that not everyone needs to have the same photography, and surely if people like the outfit I’ve put together then hopefully they’ll read anyway. But it really is my aim for this year to get to grips with some seriously COOL photography, and that includes real photographers and *hopefully* better (and more varied!) locations.

And how am I going to manage that? Well… if you don’t know already, I’m moving house! YAY! No more countryside. No more greenery. No more shit spreading in the fields. No more cats either, but I’ll visit them for cuddles. In the first week of August Jimmy and I are finally moving into our first place together #adulting, and we’re SO excited! I’m freaking nervous too, I don’t really want to spend my evenings on electricity comparison websites, but it’s gotta be done!

But what does this mean for my blog? Well, it means I’m just generally closer to life. I’m closer to the town centre, the bus station and the train station (will I one day actually go to a London event?). I’m close to shops so I don’t have to plan for half a day to go to grab a few New Look bargains. I’m going to have my own space for working on my blog and of course a new home means INTERIOR POSTS! I can’t wait to make everything how I envisage it to be, because I’ve always been so creative but never had the resources to put it to use. And finally, it means I can dig out NEW LOCATIONS for outfit posts! I’m going to contact a load of photographers and hopefully be able to travel around for outfit shots, so no more greenery ruining my insta feed. SAY GOODBYE TO THE QUIET COUNTRY GIRL AND HELLO TO THE CITY CHIC BABE!

It’s so easy to compare your own creativity to other people’s, especially when so many people are taking to things like blogging and social media content these days. But this girl is gonna have a few changes around here in the coming months when she takes a shift towards the suburbs. Exciting times! And while you wait, have some country gingham to sink your teeth into during this grim summer weather.

Are you a country girl? Or do you enjoy the city life? I’d love to know which you prefer, and your thoughts on my outfit of course!

Best of luck with the move! Getting our own home was so exciting and I love being able to decorate how we want and do exactly what we want. Looking forward to seeing your interior posts too! I really enjoy living in the suburbs, so we get the best of both worlds x

Yeah I’m so excited about that aspect! I’m going to kinda be between the countryside and the city too (so not directly in the centre) which is good!

I’m so excited for you Rob! I’m currently in the ‘gahhh get me out of this tiny village’ rut. I can’t wait to move out but still at the same time, it’s not vital to be in a city to thrive in the blog world. Photos can look amazing no matter where they’re shot!

Ps, you look bloody gorgeous in these photos! xxx

Yeah just like me then! I find that being so remote stops me from getting to shops and good locations for shooting (like areas where I don’t get stared at or yelled at!). Thank you BABE!

I always enjoy reading your posts, probably because I always feel I can relate in some way! Good luck with the move, I can’t wait for all the interior posts – hoping they’ll give me inspiration for my move to the big city in September. xx

Ahhh that’s so exciting! I don’t currently live with my parents but I do live with my boyfriend and his friends and we are about to move out just us two, so I’m definitely looking forward to the whole having my own space thing. Looking forward to your interiors posts! And I would say I’m a bit of both with city/country, my parents live in the country which is beautiful but I live in a city (albeit a fairly small one) and used to live in London, so I love a bit of a mix! Gorge look as always girl xxx

Ah it’ll be so nice to just be the two of you! I like the mix of country and city but I feel like being in the country (like really in the middle of nowhere) is so remote and quiet, I neeeed to be closer to shops and life!

I hear you girl! I struggle a lot and now that we’ve moved out of Leeds I actually drive nearly every weekend to Leeds just so we can take some cool city pictures. We even take change of outfits…upsss! I love village live though and I wouldn’t change it for the world…I just wish there is a cool town/city closer than Leeds. Congratulations on your first home though!

Haha, it all comes down to the outfit pics 😉 I think I like village life but I need something that’s a little bigger, so I don’t have to travel miles to shops and whatnot!
