5 Holiday Make-Up Essentials

As I write this post I’m sat watching Catchphrase and the final guy has won a holiday to Sri Lanka… man I’m jealous. Holiday season was over for me when I went to Bruges in May, and now I’m kinda wishing we held it off until this month because isn’t it just DULL out?

Still, while I cry away my woes as I sit on my camping chair (in my living room… we have no sofa yet) a lot of you will be jetting away to a sunny beach some time in the next month or two, and within the hassle of not going over the suitcase weight limit comes making sure you pack the right make-up for the time you’re away.

I’ve teamed up with Fragrance Direct to show you my favourite kinda holiday make-up look, along with the 5 make-up essentials I think you should all be taking with you on your summer travels (with a few tips along the way!). All links to make-up will be later in the post!

I’m one of those people that stick to nude lipsticks from day-to-day, but a summer holiday is the perfect time to pick out a bright lipstick. I’d always go for a bright coral pink or orange (and of course buy a dress that matches…!). The one I’m wearing is a Joan Collins lippy in shade Suzy Starr, and it’s got that shimmery but non-sticky feel to it that’ll look BEAUT on the beach!

What’s the point in going somewhere sunny if the sun doesn’t bounce off your highlight?! I tried the Technic highlighting cream (which BTW is only 3 quid!) and it adds such a gorgeous shine to your cheek bones. My photos do not do it justice!

I love finding a perfume that you can take away on holiday so that when you bring it back home it reminds you of all those amazing memories you made (overly sentimental, not used to this version of me but since I’ve moved out I think I’ve become a major sop). Anyhoo, the classic Chloe perfume is one of my all time favourite floral scents and it’s a lovely addition to your special evening meals! Plus the packaging is just DIVINE.

How does one find the balance between healthy glow and sweaty mess? On really hot days I always keep a mattifying powder with me to blot my nose and T-zone (so I can keep all the glow and shine to my cheeks!) – especially because I have quite oily skin. This bargain Maybelline one is FAB!

When I’m away I want to achieve that no-make-up-make-up-look, and I also want to catch real sun instead of caking myself in make-up. The L’oreal Nutri Lift Gold foundation is a really good and light choice, containing SPF20 as well as an additional glow for that light layer we need to smoothen skin and cover imperfections.

Foundation – L’oreal Nutri Lift Gold (shade Creamy Beige)

Blush – Bobbi Brown (shade Sand Pink)

Bronzer – NARS (shade Tuomota)

Lipstick – Joan Collins (shade Suzy Starr)

Highlighter – Technic Highlighting Cream (shade Catching Rays)

Powder – Maybelline Mattifying Powder (shade Light Beige)

Mascara – L’oreal

Brows – Lord & Berry (shade Brunette)

Perfume – Chloe

I would never think of Fragrance Direct as a hub of make-up (as well as alllll the summer fragrances of course!) but the choice they have on their site is unbelievable, as well as a load of deals! Make sure you head to their site to check out their selection of holiday essentials.

Drop me a comment and let me know what you think of the make-up look and the products I used! Have you tried any of them?
