Our New Home: Living Room & Kitchenware Bargains

Last month I shared with you a first look into my new home, which you can see here, and it was all about wall prints and making the place look a little less bare when we first got there. Now we’ve had some time to get to grips with the place we’ve pretty much got everything we need – minus a sofa, but that’s due in a few days FLIPPING HALLELUJAH.

If you’ve seen any of my fashion posts before you’ll know that I’m a bit of a bargain hunter. Why buy a handbag for £1000 when you can get a similar one for £30 for just as good quality? Unless it’s a special occasion of course, I won’t say no to a Chloe handbag, but that’s another story entirely… I’ve taken my fashion bargain hunting with me when it comes to homeware and I thought I’d share with you some of my favourite interior finds, especially for my living room and kitchen. A few shops have really taken me by surprise when it comes to quality, and I’ll think you’ll be quite surprised too!

As I mentioned before, we don’t have our sofa yet and that’s pretty much all that’s missing. Yes, I’m very fed up of the camping chairs we’re currently using, but every time I pop home to my mums I’m so appreciative of the damn sofa you have NO idea. The space is huge and soon we’ll be getting a cosy rug and a dining table and chairs, eeee!

Anyway, shop-wise the best places for living room items were definitely shops like Argos, Next, Wilko and IKEA. I was the kinda gal who shopped around for what she really wanted because I’d find something I liked for £500 and then use that as inspiration and find something similar but way cheaper on one of those other sites. I’m not made of money but wanted that ‘looks expensive but isn’t expensive’ vibe.

Fake flowers and white vase – Wilko

Floor lamp – Argos

Material boxes – Wilko

Tv Stand – Amazon*

*piece of shit.

There’s a story behind the tv stand. It basically took Jimmy and I daaaaays to build and in the end we pretty much gave up with it. Where the woven boxes are there were supposed to be drawer fronts, and only half of the feet on the bottom are actually screwed on properly. The thing was a bloody shambles but it looks okay now it’s there. The woven boxes saved the day and were only £3 each from Wilko… Can you see the white tube in the tv stand at the bottom too? That’s supposed to be an LED flashing light, but the remote doesn’t really work. BIG THUMBS DOWN.

Cactus set – c/o Next

White candle – Tesco (old)

Red candle – Next

Coffee Table – IKEA

Coasters – Wilko

Pink stool – Maisons du Monde

Would you believe me if I told you the coffee table was only £16? And it was bloody easy to build? Don’t ya just love IKEA?! The story behind the pink stool is a good’un too, I literally googled ‘pink fluffy stool’ and fell in love with the first one on Google – isn’t it amazing!?

I was so excited to get all of the kitchen goodies and to find matching utensils and tins – I can’t be the only one? We haven’t got much of a theme going on yet but I like having a clock and some flowers lying around to make the place look cosy. So excited to have 100 candles lit in the Autumn/Winter!

Believe it or not most of our kitchen goodies came from ASDA. SRSLY. The choice was unreal and everything I’ve tried so far has been good quality and looked fab! Luckily we have one of those giant Wal-Mart ASDA’s down the road from us, but I do think supermarkets are underrated when it comes to plates/cutlery and all that jazz.

As you can see in the snap above I obviously had to get Jimmy and I matching mugs…

Initial Mugs – ASDA

Cat Salt & Pepper shakers – ASDA

Flowers – c/o Next

Sugar & Coffee Tins – Wayfair

Knife Rack – ASDA

Utensils Tin – ASDA

Biscuit Tin – ASDA

All Utensils – ASDA

Not bad, ey? We’ve been here for over a month now and it’s starting to feel like home. It’s just that damn sofa I’m desperate for, and maybe a dining room table…

Soon I’ll show you around my bedroom and our spare room once they’re a bit more sorted, and keep an eye on my Instagram for that sofa arrival next week – it’s starting to sound like I’m expecting a baby, hahah!

Hope you’re liking what I’ve done with the place!

Absolutely love that pink stool and the copper clock! We’ve just moved into a new place too and supermarkets have been SO good for stocking up on nice interiors bits without spending all the money that I don’t have. Asda’s homeware range is great! Hope you are loving the new pad xxx

I’ve got a lot of rose gold in this place 😉 Supermarkets have been amazing, but Tesco and ASDA are way up there with my favourites – probably because they stock more! Hope you’re loving your place too!

I love reading these kinds of blog posts 🙂 That’s so bad about the TV unit from Amazon! We were looking at getting one from there but it had some terrible reviews and it really put me off. We splashed out on a much more expensive one, sold at Amazon too, and I love it so I’m so glad we went for it. I think you can get so many bargains though. IKEA is so great for amazing value pieces isn’t it x
