Hello Autumn, nice to see you again. I kinda moan about you a little because I hate the rain (anyone else with me that it’s the worst weather?) but other than that I love jumper and candle season, even though you’ve come a little early.
*sadly packs away bikinis and strappy tops until next year*
For the last few weeks I’ve been eyeing up allll the knitwear to revamp my wardrobe for the next couple of seasons, and the high street has my eyes in a constant heart-eye state. A lot of styles I’m seeing are pastel colours, flared sleeves, embroidery, and probably most of all, stripes. When shopping in Newbury a few weeks ago I spotted the cutest striped jumper in River Island on the mannequin and couldn’t find it in the store anywhere (only to find it hadn’t been put out yet) – I loved it so much that I requested one from out the back and bought it instantly. Sure it’s black and white, but with bows on the side and an attached under-shirt, you couldn’t go wrong (especially when mixed with some coloured denim…).
When buying the jumper I had a few outfit ideas, the first being this exact one with coloured bottoms. I’m always rambling about a more colourful wardrobe, but coloured trousers are something I’m yet to invest much in, and a pair of red jeans are something that have been on the wishlist for a while. I found these online at New Look in the sale but they’re nearly sold out, so click here for an alternative pair!
Other styling ideas I had for the jumper was to wear it with leggings and ankle boots for a more casual look – probably one for lounging on the sofa with a book on a weekend. Either that or match it up with some slim tapered trousers and block heels for the office. I’m currently looking into some burgundy tapered trousers or something like that and I think they’d go lush with this jumper – it’s just SO versatile and I love the layering aspect of it!
One thing that made me giggle when I bought the jumper was all of my memories relating to me trying to wear shirts and jumpers together in the past. IT JUST NEVER WORKED FOR ME. I always tried to wear white shirts underneath jumpers I owned for that geek chic style but either the jumper collar was too tight or too loose, or the shirt collar was too tight or the wrong colour or UGH it just NEVER worked. It’s a look I’ve never been able to bloody pull off and finding a top with it attached was just the icing on the failed fashion cake.
It does come in at a price of £36, but it’s a really nice material and not too thick or itchy either!

I had to finish off a red, black and white look with a brown bag and some black mules. Every gal needs a new satchel for the office once in a while, right? I picked this up recently from New Look and it also comes in a cute burgundy colour too!
Let me know your thoughts on my fave jumper of the season and how I styled it!
