Styling A Blazer For Casual Wear

I think we’ve all clarified that this season is own a checkered grey blazer season. To be honest I’m surprised it’s taken me this long to own one, but I was waiting until I found the perfect oversized beauty for an exact outfit that I wanted to create – the casual blazer look.

I’m forever buying structured blazers that cinch in at the waist and fit well for work, and of course they’re great with skirts and trousers for that smart style, but I can’t really style them with jeans without looking a bit overdressed. High street shops seem to be cottoning on to the idea that blazers are becoming a wardrobe staple over the top of jumpers for the transitional Autumn period (when it’s just a little too warm for a coat) and when I saw this one on Boohoo it was jussssst the one I’d been searching for.

Think of them as warmer than a cardigan, but cooler than a coat, and depending on what you wear it with they can be styled up or super casj-d down.

In this outfit I’ve gone for a cosy dressed down look with a sweater and some ankle boots. I have to say this ‘nineties club’ sweater is my new favourite sweater in my wardrobe, and after sharing a selfie of it on my Instagram the other day it seemed to be a huge hit with you guys too. Unfortunately it’s now sold out but I’m praying they’ll restock it!

The oversized blazer allowed me to wear this thick sweater underneath and I was literally snug as a bug in a rug, alongside my new Emu ankle boots which also have a layer of wool inside for EXTRA snug. They’re the comfiest boots I’ve worn in a long time (ok, as well as my new Next boots that I keep raving about) and these are going to be those boots I wear with fluffy socks when it’s zero degrees in the mornings! Plus they’re waterproof in case we get snow. Yes, I’ve mentioned SNOW already. It’ll only be a week or two until I mention the C word.

Bag-wise I’ve added my Fiorelli Mia bag again which I also featured earlier this month – this has been my main bag for most of the month and I can’t get enough of the quality and style of it! As I mentioned in a previous post this bag (along with 3 other styles in the same design) is in collaboration with Breast Cancer Care and £10 from each sale goes towards the charity.

Do you own a checkered style blazer? Or are you not one to follow on with trends? Let me know what you think of this look in the comments as always, and see below a few other casual style blazers if the one I’m wearing doesn’t quite tickle yo’ pickle.
