Happy December! It’s officially freezing and officially nearly Christmas. Not sure if anyone else is as excited as I am but I’m sure some of you could give it a good go! I’m yet to put my Christmas tree up (grinch boyfriend alert) but it’s coming this weekend, and it’s the first one in our new house so I can’t wait to decorate the place from scratch with all new decorations!
The turn into December also calls for one thing when it comes to fashion, and that’s Christmas party season… in particular the work office party. I’m glamming up for my work do soon and it’s the perfect opportunity to ditch the ‘hi you’re speaking to Robyn, how can I help?’ and switch to ‘hi you’re speaking to Robyn, LETS PARTAY’.
In this post in collaboration with Debenhams I’m talking jumpsuits and how you can transition one from office wear straight into party style with only a few accessory and make-up changes – perfect for your Christmas do. I mean, who really has time (or can be bothered) to take 10 outfit options and a 13 lipsticks choices with you?
The jumpsuit I’m wearing for both occasions is this bargain by Mela London at Debenhams – the pleats are SO comfy and the v-neck is covered up enough to be suitable in front of your manager but sassy enough to let your colleagues know you know your sh*t when it comes to fashion. To make it a little more office appropriate I’ve added the most INSANE velvet blazer from Dorothy Perkins in a purple/burgundy shade, along with a black snakeskin tote bag and some smart low-heeled court shoes.
Anyone else reach straight for black for workwear? Just me? You know you’ll always be comfy in black and although it’s considered that boring colour it suits every woman down to the ground.
The whole idea with the ‘desk’ look is to keep it low-key with subtle make-up and not too much going on. I’m not wearing many accessories other than a simple watch, and keeping a simple palette to begin with allows you to add plenty of colour/fun to the outfit for the party look later on.
Although it looks like I’ve completely changed my look, all I’ve done is changed my bag and shoes, added some earrings, changed my lipstick and added a bit more of a reddy eyeshadow to my eyes.
The make-up has a lot to do with your party look – I always add some colour for the evening and especially for Christmas parties I love to be bold with a red lipstick. This particular lipstick is Urban Decay cream lipstick in shade Bang. You’ll also notice the colour on my eyelids – I used the Naked Heat palette in my earlier ‘desk’ outfit but added some of the red He Devil and Dirty Talk shades on top to lift my look.
Outfit-wise I had to stick with a red theme and wear these red heels (which I will DEFFO be wearing to my Christmas party!) – they’re from Quiz, along with these gorgeous frill earrings by Red Herring, all from Debenhams. I don’t like to go too overboard with the colour so a glittery grey handbag completed the outfit perfectly – this one is by Dorothy Perkins and it’s such a good size! Anyone else hate it when they can’t fit a bloody thing in their clutch bag?
Some other beauty bits I used included the Benefit They’re Real mascara (a staple of mine), the Kat Von D tattoo liner, and also the new Mon Guerlain perfume which is a gorgeous addition to any day or night look. Not only does the bottle look b-e-a-uuuuutiful, it smells absolutely divine and would make the loveliest gift this Christmas! If any of these bits don’t quite take your fancy (or red lips aren’t your thing) you can check out all other beauty items at Debenhams here.
I hope you <3 both of my looks – let me know in the comments which one is your favourite! I’m totally in the zone for Christmas parties now, anyone got any invites they fancy sharing out?!
