Re-Wearing Older Statement Pieces

In my last blog post I talked all about my 2018 goals, and in the fashion/blog department one of the things I wanted to do this year was find some of my older statement wardrobe pieces and rediscover them again. Missed the post? Click here to have a read!

I have to admit I have two clothes rails, a 3 drawer wardrobe and a walk in wardrobe… I am lucky enough to have quite a lot of clothes, but I still suffer with the ‘I have nothing to wear’ and ‘I want something new’ conundrums. When it comes to new seasons I always want new items for my wardrobe because I feel like I’m keeping up with trends and generally new things just make me feel good when I’m having a bad day, but some pieces I bought a year or two previously are still practically brand new and have so much wear left in them (and to be honest, still on trend!).

This year I’m digging out the good stuff and re-inventing new outfits, firstly with this red leather jacket which I bought last summer and wore about 3 times. IT’S LITERALLY THE MOST AMAZING JACKET, WHY DID I SHOVE IT TO THE BACK OF MY WARDROBE?

I remember when New Look brought out a series of coloured jackets including this one I’m wearing, and it also came in green and yellow (I literally wanted them all). I went through a phase of wanting coloured everything and to be honest I haven’t got out of that phase yet… I keep seeing this bright green scarf in River Island and I’m so desperate to have it – look how soft it looks! The moral of the story is I haven’t gone off the jacket at all and my taste/style hasn’t changed, but I’ve popped the jacket towards the back of my wardrobe and forgotten about it, when I could’ve easily layered it up over Winter.

Unfortunately because it’s an old item it’s obviously out of stock, so here are some similar beauties below!

When it came to styling the jacket I wanted a super casual shopping outfit because I took my mum for a shopping trip at the weekend and it was the perfect opportunity to take the jacket out for it’s first spin of 2018. I’ve got this new tee from River Island which you may have seen on my Instagram, and paired with some jeans and some¬†trainers you couldn’t go wrong.

I know right… pause for a mo… Robyn, in trainers? Yep. I was about to wear my favourite pair of ankle boots when I decided to opt for some comfy Gola Classics and completely change up my look. I’m often one to stick to what I know on my feet so I don’t get blisters and can stay on my feet all day without complaining too much, but with my denim/red leather jacket vibe I thought I’d stick on a classic trainer to really dress down the look.

It’s not a style I often go for but hey, NEW YEAR NEW SHOE CHOICE!

I’m so guilty of this. Not so much when it comes to coats, jumpers, etc. But when it comes to outfits for nights out then I’m bloody ridiculous! I will wear something once and not re-wear it for months and months! SO silly xx

These past few years I’ve been clearing out my wardrobe every few months, but I always hold on to my favourite statement pieces so I can revisit them later, especially with jackets and shoes! x
