How To Wear Yellow For Summer

So I know I’ve done a post about my love for green dresses (featuring my fave New Look green dress, you can read the post here), but since a new yellow dress has come into my wardrobe I’ve been battling between the two colours to decide which is my favourite for the summer. I guess you guys can decide for yourselves, but I think yellow is such a bright, summery colour that nobody ever wore a few years ago, and especially a darker yellow/mustard shade can be worn against any skin tone and still look fresh.

Usually I’m a pale girl, but now summer is in full swing I’m fake tanning like mad to try and match all of you holiday makers (my next hol is booked for next September, oooouch) and I’m loving my tanned skin against this yellow dress. Take a looky below!

The dress itself is an absolute STEAL from Boohoo. When I say a steal, I mean it’s only £15 and it also comes in a black & white combo. I was so tempted with the black version but now I’m attempting this whole ‘out there’ wardrobe I opted for the yellow, and I’m so happy I did! The dress wraps a bit like a dressing gown and ties up at one side, with two different circle patterns coming together. A spot print is never going to go out of fashion, is it? I love the long sleeves for cooler and cloudier days, but yep… this dress is extremely booby. Like, potential pop-out booby. I suppose I’m a risk taker now.

The key to nailing a yellow dress like this is to not over-do your accessories and keep it simple. Don’t be afraid to add some jewellery, but keep that simple too with delicate gold details. Generally primary colours are good with yellow when it comes to bags and shoes, but as a failsafe a black or white bag would be okay. The reason this dress is so easy to wear is because it’s not all-yellow, so the white fades it out a little instead of making it too harsh – if you’re a bit scared of the sunny shade then this is definitely the way to go!

I’ve worn my dress with black accessories, opting for a slightly clashy embroidered bag from Boohoo, and some adorable shoes from Rocket Dog. Hopefully you can see the daisy print on the sole of my shoes – I’m absolutely OBSESSED with them and they’re so comfy!

If you look at some of the close-ups you’ll see my adorable Accessorize earrings too – anybody else loving ear jackets?! I got these in a pack of 10 earrings for about £12, and I get so much wear out of every pair! Eagle eyed readers will also notice I’ve got a new pair of glasses – I went for something slightly different for the next couple of years so hope you like them!

    Those sandals are SO cute!

I absolutely love the colour yellow but it just does not suit me, I might be able to get away with a yellow bag but that’s about it.

    Looking gorgeous as always xx

Thanks!! That’s the best way to incorporate new colours – with accessories! Bags and shoes are great for it!

I have always found yellow really hard to wear because I’m so pale but I’m going to give it a try after reading this post!

Me too! I think it depends on the shade – if you’re pale like me then steer clear of lemon yellow and go for deeper yellows or mustards!
