I am L O V I N G the heat in the UK this month! Sure we don’t get it everyday but when we do, the days are beautiful! I know Love Island is on at 9pm, but I am partial to an evening walk with an ice cream instead (then of course catch up online the next day, I ain’t missing out on Alex finding a good gal).
Anyway, on a recent trip to Bristol for a mini-but-not-so-mini shopping spree, I was drawn to so many longer dresses and jumpsuits. It’s nice having short shorts and little skirts to show off/tan the legs but for some reason I’m obsessed with midi and maxi lengths recently. Everyone on my Instagram has fallen in love with this Boohoo dress, and it seems like the longer midi length dress is making quite a style statement this summer – especially with a bit of a split leg for the Angelina vibes.
I picked up a beaut burnt orange dress from Zara which I’ve styled below, and I just feel so comfortable in it!
This Zara dress nails all the key styles of 2018, including the button-up detail which is on everything I’m buying this summer. I love the deep orange colour because it really shows my tan (when the sun isn’t directly shining on me…) and it’s really light and airy to wear. I wore this exact outfit to work so popped a white tee underneath to cover my shoulders, and if you’re prone to burning – like me – then a t-shirt is great for burn prevention! You could opt for this outfit without a belt in the middle, I mean the dress does have quite a lot of shape, but I just think the belt pulls it all together and matches to the black in the bag. It also makes me look way slimmer!
Please note… I didn’t realise my bag was the wrong way around until my shoot was nearly over… MAJOR FFS ROBYN.
I think these longer style dresses are so easy to style and you can wear them with any shoe, any bag and any accessories. On cooler days you could casual-down the look with some trainers and a denim jacket, or on boiling days just wear to the beach on it’s own with some flip flops. Obviously this dress is strappy which not everyone is keen on, but there are plenty of sleeved ones on the high street at the moment! I don’t necessarily think they’re ideal for winter and couldn’t imagine wearing a dress like this with tights and boots, but you never know what I could come up with in 6 months time…
As you can probably imagine these dresses are also ideal for people who aren’t so keen on their legs. Of course I completely advocate showing off everything and loving every part of you, but I for one HATE my knees and it’s so nice looking at photos of myself without knobbly ugly things ruining the outfit!
