Why You Need Linen Shorts For The Heatwave

Maaaaaaan it’s hot.

I’m obviously a lover of clothes, but right now I’m a huge advocate of wearing nothing. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the hot weather (I feel like I’m on holiday!) but at night it’s getting a little unbearable and just relaxing on the sofa turns me into such a sweaty mess.

However, going out without clothes on is unfortunately not the ‘done thing’, so while we’ve got the heatwave we may as well dig out those cooler pieces. Just because we’re boiling doesn’t mean we can’t rock a good outfit, right?!

My life saviour at the moment (as you may tell by the title) is linen. Linen dresses, skirts, shorts, tops, shirts, the lot. A while ago I would’ve never picked any linen pieces and thought that anything linen was relatively unfashionable, but during this hot weather I’ve found there’s actually so many lush linen pieces on the high street.

A week or so ago I was looking for a pair of shorts to wear during the 30 degree heat when I realised I genuinely only had one pair of shorts… and they were denim (no thanks). I’ve been so invested in buying skirts all season that I forgot about getting some comfy, but also stylish shorts. I popped into New Look (as I do every flipping day it seems) and found this rust coloured pair in store. I liked the look of these too, but they didn’t have my size (but ffs they do online waaah). Now… the shorts are actually ‘linen-look’ shorts, as opposed to real linen, but they have that lighter feel and non-sticky and non-clingy material that I was so desperately after.

I love the high waist on the shorts and the tie-up detail is very me. They are quite short, but I don’t feel uncomfortable wearing them or worried that I’ll be flashing anyone, which is a bonus because I’m wearing nothing but tiny, beige M&S pants at the mo.

Whilst shopping in New Look I saw this cute striped bardot top too – I had no intention of wearing them together but I think it works! The multi-coloured vibe goes well with the neutral tan/rust shade of the shorts and of course the top is ideal for Pride month! Plus, who can resist the frilly edge detail?!

Finally, keeping on the no-black outfit (shock!?!?!?) I’ve worn my trusty green bag from Accessorize, along with my red M&S shoes from this post I did recently. I love all the colour combinations and because the top is multi-coloured it means you can wear pretty much anything with it.

What do we think of linen – are you a fan or not so keen? I love these shorts and deffo need some more! Next do some great ones.

Don’t forget to comment and let me know what you think of the look!

I need a pair of those shorts – they look so comfy! I don’t enjoy wearing clingy clothes in this weather, so these would be perfect.

Yes!! They’re so comfy and ideal for summer – clingy clothes are awful for the heat aren’t they!
