Dressing Up During The Heatwave

As much as I love this weather (definitely a summer girl!), wearing clothes is getting a bit… much, isn’t it? Everything is hot and sticky, and I almost hate leaving work because I know I’ll be leaving the air conditioned zone for over 12 hours. England is NOT cut out for a heatwave, however it is doing wonders for my usually-fine-and-lifeless hair, anyone else getting major hair volume?!

Unfortunately… we do have to wear clothes. Summer is the time of parties, events, occasions and BBQ’s so looking nice whilst staying cool can sometimes be a tricky one.

I think I’ve found the answer with this gorgeous dress from Hidden Fashion. Straight away I know you’re thinking “but Robyn it’s black”, however it’s a super light material and the high/halter-neck design means I don’t have loads of fabric around my underarms. In general the dress is flowy and breathable so I don’t have that sticky feeling when I wear it, and it’s nice and loose too (I’m between a 10 and 12 so got a 12!) so it’s not clinging to my body anywhere. I can also get away with wearing it without a bra – HALLELUJAH.

Can you imagine wearing a bodycon or leather dress in this weather? Oh my lord.

I’m obsessed with the detail on the dress and love that I can style it up with heels and a clutch bag, or casual it down with flat sandals and a backpack. To be honest, it could even be festival worthy. Can’t beat a dress that can be worn in multiple ways!

The other thing I’m loving about this outfit are the SHOES. Also from Hidden Fashion, these shoes are a pointed nude mule with a semi-block heel – to be honest I haven’t seen heels like these before! The nude goes so well with the pinky tones in the dress, and as they have an open toe they keep my tootsies cool on the move.

I think with shoes you almost want as little contact as possible to reduce the temperature, however cool foot spray is a god send in these temperatures. FYI, the body shop do an amazing one – it’s peppermint!
