A New Found Love For Cord

Is anyone else SO excited for the Autumn season?! As I write this it’s 8pm and it’s already dark, and although I’m not hearing Christmas songs just yet, I do love the cosy months.

With the new season comes new clothes, and I have to admit I’ve been buying quite a few new transitional pieces for my wardrobe recently. This week I’ve started my first full time job in over 4 years and although I’m loving it, I’m absolutely KNACKERED. However, I’m loving finding new workwear pieces and one style I’m particularly obsessed with at the moment is cord.

Now, cord items kind of remind me of the early 2000’s when your mum thought it would be trendy to get you wearing black cords with trainers and coloured t-shirts… and now that kinda vibe has come back around. I love the texture of cord, and there’s something so A/W about it because the items are always so warm to wear.

Generally I find most cord pieces easy to style too. I’m yet to see any adventurous cord items, only your standard plain trousers, skirts and jackets – therefore this makes them key wardrobe items which you can mix and match with your favourite items in your wardrobe. I’m yet to invest in some cord trousers (although I’ve seen some lush ones, top picks below!) but I did purchase this classic skirt at Miss Selfridge last week.

You cannot beat a classic button-up a-line skirt, can you? And this cord fabric is ideal for it. The skirt itself is super cosy, and I can’t wait to pair it with tights when it’s cooler. Style-wise you can add any top you want to it, and I loved this green wrap top from Next that I purchased recently (you were all in love with it on my insta!).

Although tights and boots will be the way to go for this outfit soon, at the moment I’m pairing it with mules and a tote bag for an everyday look. I think tan and green go really well together, so this combo of tan accessories with the top is a fab mix!

Do you have a love for cord like I do? Do you have any pieces in your wardrobe already? Let me know and of course comment what you think of the outfit!

You’re completely right, you cannot beat a classic cord button up skirt. You’ve styled yours so effortlessly and I adore your recommendations!

I remember having a pair of flared cords in the early 2000s! They were grey and I practically lived in then at the time.

I love the skirt you picked up! I’ve seen quite a few cord skirts in Tesco Extras F&F range which I want to try on. That burgundy one from New Look you’ve posted is perfect!
