Last week I attended an autumn style event at my local Designer Outlet centre, based in Swindon. If you ever need any fashion inspiration or help then head to Kate Evans – she’s amazing! Prosecco, canapés (and an unnecessary Wagamamas) and I knew all I needed to know about autumn key trends. For the last few weeks shops have been filling with A/W items and I’m so excited to start styling up new pieces.
This week I took myself back to the Swindon Designer Outlet for a shopping spree afternoon featuring lunch, afternoon tea and of course to create an autumn-esque outfit full of all the key trends for 2018.
The best thing about the Swindon Designer Outlet is that it’s not just a shopping hub – you’ve got food, drinks, beauty, fashion and homeware, all at discount prices and all in one place. My best friend Hayley and I lapped up a brioche roll in Soho Coffee Co. before scouting all of the designer clothes shops.
If you watched my instagram stories in the week you will have seen a little haul of the pieces I bought, and one thing I mentioned is that I find it so fun to plan an outfit once I’ve found a key item to style it around. That ‘key’ item in this outfit is the gorgeous mustard skirt from Hobbs. Starting at £99 and discounted to £66, the mustard tones are ideal for the warm and neutral colours that are a huge hit this A/W. All over the catwalk there are browns, camels and tans which look lush with any skin tone (including pale ol’ me), and my tan Carvela bag is a fab addition to the outfit.
Spot the leopard scarf?
It was £8 discounted to £2.40 (YES, UNDER THREE POUNDS) in Accessorize and as it was only a small scarf, I thought it would look adorable wrapped around my bag handle. The colours are really on-trend too and as we all know, animal print is THE theme for 2018. Something like the scarf is a great way to incorporate the trend into your wardrobe without going overboard – as are the snakeskin black heel on my M&S shoes, which were £25 discounted to £8.99 (and the comfiest things ever made).
To finish the neutral/brown tones of the outfit I’m wearing the cutest earrings from Yumi which are gold with a wooden circle detail. How cute are they?! At only £7 (discounted from £8!), they’re an amazing outfit-finisher.
Once I had the skirt, shoes and bag sorted it was time to finish off the look with a top and some kinda jacket. M&S had a lush choice of knits and tops, but in the end I kept the rest of my look monochrome with a white blouse (check the flare sleeve!!) for £14.50 discounted from £19.50, and a black knit cape for £11.50 discounted from £19.50 also.
Capes are so ‘in’ this season and sometimes it’s nicer to not squeeze long sleeves into a jacket or coat. I saw a few around the Designer Outlet but this one was simple and I knew it would go with so many outfits!
I had such a fun experience shopping around the different stores and enjoying a cuppa (or 5) in Patisserie Valerie. It really is an all day thing, even if you aren’t on the doorstep of Swindon.
Drop me a comment with what you think of the outfit. Are you a fan of the key trends of A/W?
