Satin Skirts: Online Favourites & How To Style

Can high street stores STOP bringing out adorable satin midi skirts please???

My bank balance has truly suffered over the last month or two with the rise of satin pieces, and if you don’t own a Topshop satin Bias skirt then it’s about time you did. I love the classy style you get from satin items, and they can easily be dressed up or down depending on what you wear with them.

I thought I’d centre a post around how I’d style one for an everyday look, but what quick changes I would make to take it from day to night. In true Phases Of Robyn style I’ll also hunt down my favourites from the high street at the moment and share my top picks with you.

I’m the proud owner of two Topshop Bias skirts – if you aren’t aware of these skirts then they’re basically midi satin skirts with an elastic waistband in a load of different colours and prints. I purchased my first one in a dark purple colour and it was ideal for the festive season, and more recently I bought this rust/deep orange version. Personally, I love wearing them with t-shirts and ankle boots for work, and they look lush with a black or cream blazer if you want to smarten up a little.

The skirts themselves are priced AMAZINGLY and I think I paid £22 for one and £29 for the other. Since the Topshop skirts entered the high street, other stores have followed suit and I know that New Look have their own selection of satin skirts which are also at good prices!

For this outfit I wanted to keep more of a casual-vibe with a loose top and a cardigan. I’ve had this black t-shirt in my wardrobe for YEARS and it’s still a staple – I originally bought mine from Missguided but they sell an identical one at SheIn. These skirts look great with contrast so I tend to keep the colour in the skirt and go monochrome with the rest of the items.

This cosy cardigan was a bargain buy from New Look towards the end of last year and I love the chunky black buttons on it – of course adding to that contrast. As I said before, you could easily swap the cardigan for a blazer, or in colder weather a trench coat would be perfect!

The final touches include an adorable velvet chain bag from Boohoo, plus my staple kitten heel black ankle boots that are a million years old from Faith at Debenhams. Click here for some similar boots, but I can’t get enough of kitten heels atm! Top tip: if you want to wear your satin skirt on a night out, swap the ankle boots with sparkly heels!

Are you a fan of the satin skirts trend? Do you own one, or not taken the plunge yet? I love how comfy they are to wear, and although they can get a little creased (bane of my life!!) they’re so easy and fun to style. Let me know what you think in the comments as always!
