If you follow me on my social media channels you may know I have recently been searching for the perfect pair of light-coloured work trousers. To be honest, I wasn’t worried about the colour but generally wanted white, cream, beige, oatmeal or something like that so I could easily style dark or black tops with them. I always fall into the trap of buying black knitwear and black blazers/jackets but I’m trying my hardest to steer away from all black outfits, so the new cream tone trend seemed perfect for me!
The only problem was… I couldn’t find a single pair I liked. I was after any kinda style/fit but mainly a normal tapered look if I could get it. Firstly, I tried on some in H&M… they were perfect but you could see the pockets through the trousers and I HATE that. Tried some on in Jaeger but srsly they would’ve broken the bank and I couldn’t go through with it (£110 I think!!). Finally saw some I liked in & Other Stories… didn’t have my size.
I recently had some time off work for annual leave and spent the majority of the time shopping (as you do, especially when your annual leave falls on payday) and on another trip to H&M I came across these gorge beige slacks. They were obviously new to the store and were just what I’d been looking for! At the same time I tried on some darker beige skinny trousers, but to be honest they were more like leggings and really not what I was after. I took about 4 other items to the changing room with me but I’ll leave them for another day.
The cream trousers themselves fit really nicely, and priced amazingly at £19.99. That extra penny could be spent on belt loops if I’m honest though – the only downside. I love the slit in the sides of the legs and I think they’re quite flattering! They are a ‘cropped fit’ so any tall lasses may struggle with these – I’m 5ft7 and I’m just on the cusp of being okay to wear them, but sometimes I do get cackled at when I show up for work for displaying a lot of ankle.
What do you think? Not bad eh? They feel a lot more expensive than £19.99 and I’m so pleased!
I did have a few dream outfits ready to create with these trousers. The first was a camel coloured jumper tucked in with black heels, a black croc bag and a black belt. The second was a loose white t-shirt with a black blazer, tan shoes and a matching tan bag. Will so be recreating these looks.
However, for this spring outfit I opted for a cute black printed shirt (because the black and beige is such a fab contrast this season) which I found in the Topshop sale for only £15! I thought it looked super cute with my fave nude M&S kitten heels (that I love so much I now have in blue) and an adorable floral Fiorelli bag. This spring I think it’s going to be all about the neutral tones with pops of black and pops of pastel colours, which is definitely a kinda style I can get on board with.

Are you a fan of the cream trouser? Is it something you’d try or a little too ‘golfer girl’ for you? I personally love being able to switch up my looks because for too long I’ve been wearing dark navy or black trousers for work! I definitely recommend these H&M ones so try them out – they do come in normal black and navy if you like the shape.
Drop me a comment as always with your thoughts!
