Anyone else LOVED the mini heatwave over Easter?! I have such a mood change when the sun comes out and even though I’ve been battling the worst migraines and headaches in months, it’s still nice to have a change from defrosting the car in the morning. The lighter mornings and evenings are also doing wonders for my sleeping pattern!
I know the hot weather probably won’t last but it’s not long until summer now so I am starting to slowly build up my summer wardrobe. I’ve seen a lot of summery dresses in New Look and H&M which I regret not buying, but usually when summer actually begins I tend to go for a big summer spend up so I’m being sensible and waiting until then… I’m also not going away on holiday until September so who’s being a good girl?!
Instead I’m opting for introducing a few spring/summer pieces which are ideal for work and casualwear – starting with this adorable ditsy daisy print skirt from New Look.
Eagle-eyed readers may have noticed that I popped this skirt in my last blog post as an outfit option for minimal floral styling. I loved it SO much that I popped to my local New Look store and bought it – haha! It’s not satin (which makes a change for me) but it’s got an elastic waist and a flattering fit which ticks all the boxes for me. I like the ditsy print as opposed to bigger floral prints – they’re just a bit more ‘me’ and not overly OTT. I’ve worn the skirt with a white tee, a black blazer and court heels for work, but for this look I’ve gone for a more dressed down vibe.
And of course, trust New Look to have a matching tee… I actually saw this t-shirt a few days after I bought the skirt and some of you will think the matchy-matchy vibe is totally cringe but I LOVE IT. I can see me wearing the skirt/top combo in the height of summer with some flip flops walking around the beach… and the tee is under £10 too!
Unfortunately when I shot these photos it wasn’t quite the height of the heatwave, so my new longline cardigan (also from New Look…) was the ideal addition. I’ve been wearing this non-stop at work as an easy layer, and it goes with pretty much everything. To be honest I’ve always been anti-longline-anything but have seen them seeping in trend-wise and thought I’d give it a go – and now I want them in all colours!
To finish the ditsy daisy look I’ve added my favourite M&S yellow bag – it’s back in stock in yellow but also comes in a few colours and I NEED it in red. You’ll see I’ve added my comfiest ever black ankle boots to the outfit and to complete the spring style I’m wearing a new pearl clip from New Moon (a gorge new accessories brand opened by the lovely Blush & Noise!). The hair clip trend is so fab!
