I’m not the only one who is upset about writing a blog post with ‘transition to autumn’ in the title, seriously. But it has been a pretty awful couple of weeks since that lush heatwave and I’m finding myself lying on the sofa in the dark watching tv at around 9pm now… so autumn must be calling.
I’ve found high street shops are really bringing in knitted tops, whether it be long sleeved or short sleeved and I am so on board with pairing these with summery pieces. I thought I’d style a new knitted item in my wardrobe to give you an idea of how you can buy and wear these pieces now, ready to also have in a month or two when it chills down.
The top in question is this gorge but simple high neck knit from Marks & Spencer. I loved the neutral vibe and I was actually on the lookout for something like this in either nude or white to tuck into work trousers. I currently have an old black one from Miss Selfridge and I get so much wear from it! M&S had them in black, red and other colours too but I’m more of a nude girl as most of my trousers/skirts are multicoloured.
The top itself was a bargain at £12.50, but I’ve recently seen some in the sale. The bad news is that my one is sold out online so you may have to pop into store to find it!
I wanted to pair the top with a workwear style that I’d usually wear, and opted for some smart but comfortable Warehouse trousers and some nude snakeskin sale shoes. These trousers were an ASOS sale steal and I found the shoes in Dorothy Perkins for a bargain £12. Also very impressed at how the shoes and top match!
You’ll notice I’ve added a fair few accessories to vamp up an otherwise basic outfit, starting with a multi-layered necklace (a sale piece) and adding the cutest mini Topshop hoops.
Finally, why not add a bright coloured bag?! This beauty was an old Charles & Keith bag but I’ve found a very similar one on Topshop!
