Transitional Pastels

Hi all! Long time no see… Over 3 months later.

Little me has had an unintentional, then an intentional break from POR since early December. I’ve been really quite poorly and had absolutely no ‘want’ to get up and dressed at the weekend to get photos done, and it’s all come to a head a little. I’ve not been to work in about a month with pain (I don’t want to go to into detail) and I was going to write a post about it, but instead my time off so far has reminded me how much I love clothes and the blogging community in general. I get very tired but because I’m having to stay led down and rest all I can do is watch tv and scroll on my phone, so I’m getting really inspired by people on Instagram and keeping up with new trends which I wasn’t doing much of before.

So instead of writing about my doom and gloom (which I’m not very good at!) I’m going to share my favourite transitional picks from the best pastel shades. I’m seeing a lot of pastel accessories accompanying outfits so watch out for those, and a lot of things I’ve chosen are high street or in the sale!

I’m obsessed with the pastel and light green shades for Spring. It started off when I saw Zoella in the & Other Stories jumpsuit on the left a month or so ago, and I love the idea of an all neutral outfit with the green accessories. I think this colour best suits me out of all in this post because I have green eyes and pale skin, also if you are a redhead then the sage colour is ideal to wear. Lilac purple is such a pretty shade and such a lush one for Spring! It’s one of the first ones I get my nails painted once the sun comes out and the high street is full of the colour now. I know we’re not quite feeling Spring yet, so you’ll notice many high street shops and online stores are keeping to pastel colours and mixing them with A/W pieces, including knitwear and blazers. You’ll see some of that above with the cosy Nasty Gal jumper which is an absolute bargain, and OMG THOSE BOOTS.

Powder/ice blue is such a subtle and easy colour to wear. A nice one for blondes to wear and an easy pairing with monochrome looks. I had the most gorgeous pair of powder blue kitten heels last summer from Marks & Spencer and a statement shoe stands out so well without being too OTT. Of course, light blue also includes light denim so I’ve had to include a pair in my top picks too.

Pale pink can often be the softest colour to wear if you’re new to the pastel scene. One way I’ve always liked to wear light pink is with a tapered trouser, sticking to all black with the rest of the outfit (imagine a black knitted jumper, shoes and bag). You could also enter Spring with a pastel pink tote bag for work which will keep all through Summer, something like a Carvela Kurt Geiger or Radley would be a great investment!

What do you think of the pieces I’ve found? Are you a fan of pastels or prefer sticking to monochrome or neutral looks? Let me know in the comments what you fave item is and if you purchase anything!

Sage green and pastel pink are really having a moment for me, I adore the & Other Stories pistachio green jumper that’s always sold out. I’m honestly waiting for it to come back in stock so I can make it mine!
